harrods' sparkling winter
in london

Harrods at night

Last week, we escaped the winter gray of London for blue skies and sunshine in Cancun.  We spent time at the beach, hung out with friends, and I did ZERO writing.  But, on the long flights to and from Europe, I finally caught up on photography editing.  This is a seriously amazing thing for me --- I haven't been caught up on culling, post-processing, and editing since we first left the United States back in 2009.  So, I was looking through our London pictures and I realized again that, despite the gloom and gray, London is a gorgeous city.

And, Harrods, that legendary department store is a wonderland of creativity, beauty, and commercialism.  If I lived in London, I would come here every month to take pictures of the gorgeous and intricate window displays.

Thank you for bringing bits and pieces of the world alive for folks who don't travel. I have been on this trip with you vicariously for almost 3 years. It has been quite a ride!

You describe it perfectly: 'despite the gloom and gray, London is a gorgeous city.' Can't wait to go back to London, and I am curious to see how we'll feel about the city after having seen so many other great cities.

Dani, I'm sure that y'all will have a very interesting perspective of London because it is SO different than many of the South American and Asian countries. It was nice being here for Christmas because the lights were really pretty and the trees were all out everywhere. :)

Wow, stunning! I have no words for this really, I only feel that this must be seen in on the spot next year. Thanks for these great photos!
